Women

(by a member of our Women’s Team):

 

It was only the second game the Women’s Team have played (a Friday night clash with Souths at the Southern Cross Reserve) and most had only played one game of cricket or less in their life, so we are talking a very inexperienced team. Yet, here are a group of A & Reserve Grade men lead by John Littleproud (Club President), Cooper Webster (A Grade Captain), Chris Webster (Club Legend), our English import Rory Lyttle, and the rest of the gang, showing up to support these ladies as they are learning the game, cheering them on as they take wickets and hit boundaries.

 

As the game gets close to the end, these guys get up, put their drinks down, walk over to the covers that are ready to go on the pitch (we had to cover the pitch after the game) and wait for the game to end. As the ladies win the game, the guys give a cheer and start doing the covers.

 

This is our club!

 

It doesn’t matter if you are A Grade Men, D Grade Men or a new player in the Women’s Team, we are ONE club and we train together, lose together and win together. That’s just one reason why I love the University Cricket Club.
